A trellis offers form, function & practical style
Plants trained on trellises can offer fun unexpected and lush source of shade for a patio or porch, even your home.
You will see greater yield per square foot of soil from plants supported by trellises that have been given room to thrive and grow.
- Because more leaf area is exposed to sunlight trellis-supported plants produce for longer periods,
- Harvesting fruit and vegetables are easier to spot and pick when they are grown vertically. Ideal for gardeners that are unable to bend down and work on a ground level
- Trellises allow for more air circulation through foliage which helps to keep the plants healthy and vigorous.
- Vines grown and lifted off the ground greatly reduces usual threat from pests, fungi and viruses. Also lifting vines makes plants unavailable to snails, slugs and eliminates ground rot.
Installation:
- Secure trellis using 2 rebar stakes anchored into soil at your desired location. (Choose rebar stakes no less than 4' in length, available at any home improvement store)
- Securely anchor rebar stakes no less than 12" deep into soil using a mallet or hammer. A properly anchored stake will remain firmly erect on its own, offering no "give" when firmly pushed or pulled. (avoid locations with severe wind exposure)
- When rebar stake is properly anchored in soil at desired location, secure trellis panel to rebar with wire, work from to top bottom, leaving a few inches between each wire "tie". Wire should be tight with no "give" when secured to properly anchored re-bar stakes. Secure trellis to stakes at various, even heights working from top to bottom until the trellis is completely secure.
Care:
- Great care and workmanship went into the construction and design of your whimsical garden art. Many design details were intentionally crafted with hand-wrapped wire to mimic the natural look of twigs, provide durability. However, the many elements that create the rustic quality will weather in the elements including the natural twigs which will become brittle over time. As the twigs dry and shrink, a twig or two may become loose, this is easily remedied by simply tightening the wire that secures the twigs to the steel fame or simply by adding a small length of wire and twisting it to secure any loose elements.
- Your trellis should be stored inside once the growing season ends. Choose a safe location out of the winter elements where it won't sustain unnecessary wear and tear. This will help prolong the life of your trellis.
- The steel details in this design have not been altered or treated to prevent natural oxidation or rust, another rustic quality considered when choosing design materials, if you prefer a less rustic piece, the trellis can be sealed or painted with the appropriate products to achieve a less rustic finish.
***Please note: These hand crated art pieces are not toys and not recommended or children. All designs should be handled with care and only used in the manner for which they were intended. The natural elements
that offer the rustic design qualities may have slightly sharp(natural) edges. The artist/designer/seller
accepts no liability of damages or injuries resulting from the
mishandling or misuse of designs.
